If you'd asked us what 2020 had in store for us on New Year's Day, there's a lot we wouldn't have expected. Coronavirus. Working from home and becoming an absolute lump. This insane election. Murder hornets. But we think it's possible that the most surprising treat this year has been Logan Paul's extremely slow ascent into wokeness. We covered the YouTuber's impassioned anti-racism speechback in June, and we're honestly shocked that we're once again agreeing with someone we once thought was human trash.
Logan's latest moment of viral sanity involves the Harry Styles dress-wearing debate that started earlier this week. The pop singer was featured wearing some elaborate gowns in Vogue - and not everyone on the internet was happy about it. Conservative commentator Candace Owens, among others, criticized the magazine feature. Owens went as far as to tweet this sentiment: "There is no society that can survive without strong men. The East knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men." She received widespread criticism, and apparently, Logan Paul is one of her critics.
On the latest episode of Logan's podcast, "Impaulsive," Paul comes to Style's defense after his co-host, George Janko, called for bringing back "manly men." Logan seemed incredulous to this take, arguing that being manly is being comfortable in your own skin. But Janko doubles down, saying "It ain't manly, bro." While Paul continues to defend his stance - and call Janko out for some serious toxic masculinity - Janko resorts to gaslighting, focusing more on Paul's tone than what he is actually trying to say. While Logan hardly deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for this take, he is impressiong (and surprising) a lot of people on Twitter. And we love to see it. You can watch the video and enjoy the commentary below. Here's hoping Logan continues to throw these woke curveballs at us. Maybe he can get through to his base.

He's actually grown a lot. When BLM protests started this year he said this: (and yes he was actually seen at the front of protests. Not hiding in the back to record it, he was at the FRONT)https://t.co/kGR3H2zmlv

This is a masterclass in addressing toxic masculinity with your friends and calling them out in a calm, thoughtful way. pic.twitter.com/hFqaaCZPZf
