Employee Points Out Boss' Mistake In Surprisingly Hopeful Thread

Boss-employee confrontations aren't always terrible, as it turns out. Imgur user DiscriminativeStimulus posted an email correspondence with their boss when the company made a mistake by paying them too much in over time. Shockingly, both parties acted like rational adults and justice was had all the same, which gives us a tiny bit more hope in this world.

Green - to mē v Hi A We are reviewing payroll for the past few months to ensure it was paid correctly and we did find one issue with your pay.

2.

Text - Over time was incorrectly calculated. You were paid time and a half plus time and a half. Genie's payroll system was adding a x1.5 rate to your wages when they were already manually adjusted. If if you made $20/hour SSBT put in $30/hour and Genie payroll adjusted to $45/hour.

3.

Text - You were overpaid $248.24 for over time on your pay. We are planning on deducting this amount for this current pay day. If you would like us to split this between two pay periods please let me know by tomorrow.

4.

Text - We apologize for the over sight. We are working on checks in place to avoid this in the future. Please also check your pay stubs every pay period. Dlase let me know if you have any questions. st

Text - PM I do see the very high pay rate for overtime those stubs. That is a very unfortunate error. However, per WA state law (WAC 296-126-030 - https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=296- 126-030) it would appear that you can only recoup overpayments made in the last 90 days. The October paycheck was over 90 days ago.

6.

Text - The employer has ninety days from the initial overpayment to detect and implement a plan with the employee to collect the overpayment. If the overpayment is not detected within the ninety-day period, the employer cannot adjust an employee's current or future wages to recoup the overpayment. Recouping of overpayments is limited to the ninety- day detection period."

7.

Text - The December one is well within your detection period, so of course deduct that but as far as the October check is concerned it doesn't seem ethical to do something that violates WA state law. Hide quoted text lan 27, 2020, 2:07 DM ild On M
