It can be scary to think how much our brains have been irreversibly changed by the internet. Sure, experts might like to point to the reduced attention span or the worse sleep quality, but it could probably be argued that one of the most important effects has been on our sense of humor. Did we always laugh at stuff this deliciously dumb? Possibly. However, it can't have come with the amount or variation we see in memes. If anything, that's all the more reason to cherish being born at a similar time to the advent of social media. Even if we're being used as human guinea pigs, at least we have fun doing it.
