Nobody is Inspired by the UN's Climate Change PSA Featuring a CGI Dinosaur

Did you hear? A new United Nations PSA just dropped and it totally solved climate change. Yup, climate change is officially over thanks to this mind-blowing PSA. The video features a CGI raptor with the voice of Jack Black. He walks into the UN General Assembly and gives world leaders a piece of his mind on the subject of climate change. He knows a thing or two about extinction because he's a dinosaur, get it?

I'm sure a lot of people appreciate the effort, but the video has a lot of flaws. For one, who is the target audience of a message like this? You and I? Do they expect us to watch this video and think, 'gee, I think I will stop subsidizing fossil fuels now.' It isn't exactly in our power as consumers to stop governments from funding the fossil fuel industry. Sure, we can make individual efforts to do better, but it would be like trying to put out a forest fire with a squirt gun. And if we're not the intended audience for the video, then it must be for world leaders who make all the decisions. In what fantasy world would a country's leader watch this video and change policy overnight? It would be like magically convincing a life-long smoker to quit by showing them a cute animation of a cartoon bear who says 'smoking causes cancer!' But hey, at least people are having fun laughing about it in the comments. As one commenter aptly put it, 'if WALL-E didn't work, nothing will.'
